The Reykjavik based producer Adalsteinn Gudmundsson has been creating atmospheres through melody and sounds for more than a decade now. A definitive member of the thule musik collective, he is also is known for his work as half of sanasol and also the famed plastic. It’s the Yagya records that succeed where others fail though, in twisting textures and folding them into each other with bewildering results.
Concentrating on atmospheres and moods his music reminds us a lot of Sigur Ros et al. Emphasising the softer side of music and avoiding heavy rhythms, he finds harmony and beauty in the simple sounds of nature. It’s pretty; it’s sad, and great to unwind to.
